I tested one of these spinners while fishing for stripers, and I really liked the bait feeder function on the SBF 50 Salt Striker spinning reel. Flip a latch and it leaves the reel in free-spool with a subtle clicker until the handle is cranked—guaranteeing that a 40-incher had time to ingest my bait before coming tight. Good thing it holds 320 yards of 12 lb line, or else I may have been spooled when the bass ran with the tide. The reel’s made of machined aluminum to withstand saltwater and features 10 bearings for smooth handling. I liked how the titanium coated one-way bearing-driven line roller relieved stress on the line during runs. The frame may not be the strongest in the world but for the cost, this reel is better than expected.
Price: $60 - $70
The Highs: A very inexpensive spinner armed with freespool.
The Lows: The clicker isn’t loud enough. Frame isn't the strongest in the world.
Who Wants It: Someone who needs a set of spinners with freespool, but doesn’t have a big budget.
